Mounted Patrol Riders and Horses

January 13th, 2017

January 13, 2017 (Southlake, TX) – Alpha & Omega Mounted Patrol, North America’s oldest and largest private mounted patrol, has announced plans to expand its ranks in anticipation of a busy 2017 concert season.

All horse and rider candidates must pass a rigorous evaluation process before being selected for duty. More information, including a full job description and application, can be found on the Employment page of Alpha & Omega’s website. Interested parties must apply online in order to be considered for an in-person evaluation.

This year’s first round of evaluations will take place on February 4-5 near Phoenix, AZ, February 18-19 near Palm Springs, CA, and on March 11-12 near Murfreesboro, TN.

Horse and rider are hired as a pair, and all evaluations will occur in the saddle. Evaluations are open to invited applicants only. Horse owners possessing great people skills are encouraged to apply. In addition to impeccable horsemanship skills, Alpha & Omega requires Troopers to uphold a polished, friendly and professional demeanor. Applicants should own their mount and have dependable access to a safe truck and trailer. Applicants must be at least twenty-one years of age and able to pass a background check.

Horses may come from any background, breed or discipline, but must be tolerant of intense visual, auditory and tactile stimuli. Geldings and mares (no stallions) must be at least 15 hands, in good health and shod to A&O standards.

The focus of these evaluations will be on recruiting mounted patrol units for music festivals in Manchester, TN and Indio, CA. The latest recruiting campaign for Alpha & Omega follows yesterday’s lineup announcement from Tennessee’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. This will be Alpha & Omega’s sixteenth year patrolling Bonnaroo since its inception in 2002.

The mounted patrol organization will also return to California’s Empire Polo Club this spring for two consecutive sold-out weekends of the star-studded Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.  Coachella will be followed by the country fan- favorite, Stagecoach Music Festival, at the same location. Last year, Alpha & Omega closed out its concert season by joining six rock-and-roll legends for the inaugural Desert Trip Music Festival at the same location.

Full-time and part-time Troopers are also needed to perform mounted safety and courtesy patrol duties for The Woodlands Township, located thirty miles north of Houston, Texas. Interviews in The Woodlands will be held on an ongoing basis.
