Nateva Music and Camping Festival
KES and A&O provided overall security direction plus mounted riders at the inaugural Nateva.
The festival was held at the 100-acre Oxford Fairgrounds in Oxford, Maine, about 45 minutes
from Portland. The jam-based music festival featured popular musicians like Phil Lesh, Bob Weir,
The Flaming Lips, moe, George Clinton and others on multiple stages throughout the fairgrounds. The
venue offered entertainment from carnival rides to yoga classes. Mounted units provided many public
safety services including crowd management, parking assistance, campsite monitoring, illegal substance
monitoring, medical and emergency vehicle escorts, and aid to fans and performers. Troopers worked
closely with the Oxford Police Department and the Maine State Patrol to provide a family-friendly
setting for the concert patrons.
Virgin Music Festival
Frank Keller, CEO of Kel Executive Services and Alpha & Omega Mounted Security Patrol, was Director of Security for Virgin Festival by Virgin Mobile, a company of Virgin USA. The concert on Saturday, September 23, 2006, featured The Who, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and 20 other acts on three stages.
Keller was in charge of all aspects of public safety for the festival attended by an estimated 60,000 fans. The multi-phased event was staged on the 140-acre Pimlico Racecourse, home of the Preakness Stakes Triple Crown horse race in Baltimore, Maryland. Along with the bands the festival included a DJ dance tent, interactive art installations, concessions and vendors, non-profit displays and performance art.
Farm Aid 2006
Kel Executive Services provided executive security services for some of the acts at Farm Aid 2006. These services included advance work, venue assessment, threat evaluation, and personal security. Performers included Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews and Jerry Lee Lewis.
Crosby Stills Nash Young Freedom of Speech 06 Tour
Kel Executive Services (KES), an affiliated company of Alpha & Omega Mounted Security Patrol, provided security for the Freedom of Speech 06 tour of Crosby Stills Nash Young (CSNY). The North American tour, the first for the legendary rock and roll group in four years, covered 30 cities from Philadelphia to California and up into Canada from July 6 to mid-September.
Frank Keller, president of KES, personally traveled the entire tour with Neil Young. Keller provided a number of security services including advance site evaluations, travel planning, hotel inspections, executive protection, route planning, crowd management, and meeting coordination. The CSNY tour offered special security challenges at such high profile venues as Denver Red Rocks amphitheater and the Hollywood Bowl. Special challenges were presented by the tour logistics, the venues, the pace and the political theme of much of the music.
Woodstock 94
The Alpha & Omega Mounted Security Patrol participated in one of the milestone music events of all time. Billed as the 25th anniversary of the original Woodstock music festival, the Woodstock 94 Arts and Music Festival was staged on the 843-acre Winston farm in Saugerties, New York, August 12 to 14, 1994. The festival featured 30 bands and an estimated 450,000 people in attendance. The Woodstock site created the third largest city in New York during the festival weekend. Alpha & Omega Troopers joined the New York State Police and several private security firms to manage the sizeable crowd (the first time ever for a private mounted patrol to be contracted for a music festival.) A strong relationship was forged with the New York State Police, a bond that continues today.
Troopers were responsible for traffic management, parking patrols, opening passageways for band members and VIPs, clearing landing zones for helicopters, and monitoring crowd movement and behavior.
